Tony Blackburn revealed two baffling habits that 'keep him healthy' after his battle with sepsis and pneumonia.

The radio DJ, 82, sat down with Kate Garraway, 57, on Wednesday's instalment of ITV's Lorraine.

Presenter Kate asked Tony how he was doing after having life-threatening sepsis and pneumonia in 2023.

He had pulled out of his popular Sound of the 60s Tour and Radio 2 show after he was taken ill, but at the time, he said he had a chest infection.

'How do you feel now? How do you generally keep fit?' Kate asked.

‘I don't do anything, my dad was a doctor and he said to me don't do too much exercise,' the DJ explained.

Tony also revealed a dietary habit he had kept up since being a young child that he believes contributes to his health.

'I’m a vegetarian, I've been a vegetarian since the age of five just because I love animals,' Tony said.

'But I think being a vegetarian, I gather now it's quite a good thing for your health, that's what I've been told so its working at the moment.'

Kate replied, 'Well it's working brilliantly. And you don't stop, you have no intentions of retiring and you keep moving.'

Sepsis is a life-threatening condition caused when the body releases chemicals to fight an infection, while pneumonia is an infection that inflames the air sacs in one or both lungs.
